Meaning- Old、Ancient
Reading-ふる、いにしえ
How I remember it-
The way I remember this one is pretty cool, I think.
I think by now we all know how to count, and if we do, we know 十 means Ten.
And of course from a couple of previous posts, we know that 口 means mouth
↓
(^口^)ノ
Ever said something something so much it became lame? like saying the same joke over and over?
“Come on dude, you 口 that same joke/story like 十 times already, it’s getting 古 now…..”
“Come on dude, you mouthed that same joke/story like 10 times already, its getting old now….”十 口。 古。

Meaning-Firefly
Reading-ホタル、 ケイ
How I remember it-
First keep this in mind, Anytime you see this kanji (radical)虫 with another kanji as a radical, it will have something to do with a bug, or an insect. Ex:蜂、蝶,蚊,蜘蛛
Now, you see those three lines on top of the kanji? They stand for light or fire.
So, remember when I said, if you know enough Radicals, you can literally pull the meaning right form any kanji?
When you know these two, you’ll simply come up with
A Bug That Has To Do With Light.
A Light Bug.
Firefly. 蛍 -
Meaning- Stomach
Reading- い
How I remember it:
Remember in a post post we talked about how the kanji(radical)月 is used for body parts, or it’s added to with another kanji to make different body parts? Well, the Kanji (radical) 田 means rice field. So in this case, I think of it as rice. So if 月 is used for body parts, and 田 is rice,
The 月 where 田 goes.
The BODY PART where RICE goes.

Meaning- Man
Reading- おとこ, だん,なん
How I Remember It-
The first kanji that’s on top means field. 田.
and the 力 kanji on the bottom of it means power.
Back then, men use to work in the field, and women at home,
when we’re looking at kanji, always look at the past.
Power in the field. look, this is going to be 2 lessons in one,
the thing about this kanji for 力 is, it’s actually a pictograph, of a man
bending down, doing work from all the work he has done. Check the previous post out out. Now you should understand why 力 is a man. So all together easily,
力 work in the 田
Men work in the field.
See how all the easy kanji come together? If you know all the small ones, you’ll start realizing that every big on you see it nothing to be scared of at all~ you’ll be reading it like the ABCs in the futurePosted on March 2, 2012 with 4 notes

Meaning- Sink
Reading- しずむ,チン
How I Remember It-
Like we learned in This Post ,We know that氵 has to do with everything water, or liquid.
Knowing that, we know that this kanji will have something to do with water or something liquid. Do you see the kanji 儿 in there?
儿 are human legs , and hes almost fully under the water. So as I see it, 冖 is the body of water here, and 儿 is almost fully under it.In the 氵you can find 儿 which are almost totally under the 冖.It’s sinking
In the water you can find human legs which are almost totally under the body of water. It’s sinking.

Meaning- Chair
Reading- い
How I remember it-
Remember in this post When I explained 木 was somewhere inside the post. It means tree, or wood, or timber, but in this kanji I remember it as wood.
And I also explain what 大 meant in this post . A headless stick figure,
You see how the headless man is sitting or something, like a line, and a hook on the bottom is holding that line up? I think of it as the chair, that the 大 is sitting on. as for the 木, chairs were normally made from wood, we have to know that kanjis were made back then, not now where chairs are made of metal.
A 椅 is a 木 That 大 Sit on. and 可 is what the chair looks like.
A chair is a Wood that People Sit on. -
Meaning- Heaven
Reading- てん
How I remember It-
This one is really simple and doesn’t require much explanation.
From previous posts, we know that 大 is a man (headless stick figure)
The line that you see above that man 一 is used a lot as cloud, as we learned from
This PostThe clouds above man-kind is heaven.
天 -
Meaning- Read
Reading- よむ、トク
How I Remember It-
Do you see the kanji 言? Remember we talked about it? (Click here to remember)
It means Say. Now the kanji next to it, I remember them by picturing a guy standing behind a table reading. You should see a man 十 hands sticking out, without legs just yet, then right on the bottom of that, a straight line, which is the book, right under the book, You see the the he desk in the middle looks like half a square? Then you see the legs coming down?
If not, Check this out. 読
